NVZ Designation The area of land designated will increase to approximately 70% of England from the current level of 55%. A map showing proposed boundaries can be found at: www.defra.gov.uk/environment/water/quality/nitrate/maps-revisednvz.htm It is anticipated that approximately 1.5% of land in England currently designated may be de-designated. This is primarily as a result of a better understanding of catchment boundaries. The possibility that the designation may be increased to 100% of agricultural land in the future cannot be ruled out.
