The British Pig Health Scheme is the new BPEX herd health scheme that could save you money through improving your herd health!

The scheme uses specialist pig vets to assess a range of health conditions in pig carcases slaughtered in specialist pig abattoirs throughout Britain. Experts estimate that using information provided by the scheme could help reduce production costs by up to 5p per kg.

Enzootic pneumonia - like lesions	Hepatic scarring
Peritonitis	Pericarditis
Pleuropneumonia-like (APP-like lesions)	Papular dermatitis
Milk spot liver	Pyaemia
Pleurisy	Tail-biting
Other lung lesions

The scheme aims to assess at least one batch of pigs from each scheme member’s unit every quarter.
